WHAT IS REMEDIAL SADDLE FITTING?
The Definition of Remedial Saddle Fitting
"Fitting a saddle to a horse which not only takes into account his current shape but also allows for future development while allowing and encouraging un-used or under-used muscles to re-activate and re-engage".
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY HORSE NEEDS A REMEDIAL FIT?
It is recommended that your horse is seen by an experienced remedial saddle fitter after any illness, injury, lameness, back problem or significant time-off (more than 6 months). It is also vital that your horse is seen by a remedial saddle fitter after any physical or psychological damage caused by a previous ill fitting saddle or after diagnosis and treatment of kissing spines.
Damage caused by previous saddles may not be picked up by other professionals but there are some telltale signs you as an owner can look for. The most common are:
Dip in front of withers
Dip behind shoulder
If your horse has any of the above symptoms please contact an experienced remedial saddle fitter.
HOW MUCH DOES A REMEDIAL FITTING COST?
Each remedial fitting appointment takes approximately 3 hours and includes:
Ridden assessment including some instruction
Current Saddle Evaluation for horse and rider
Identification of issues and possible solution
Tree adjustments and flocking adjustments
Follow up/remedial plan
